Terms of Service

Version 1.1 · Last revised: 10 September 2026 · Jurisdiction: Switzerland / EU

1. Provider

These terms govern the use of the PhotoVoc application (the “app”), operated by Ing. Michaela Mušková Meždejová, registered at Rue Auguste Matringe 6, 1180 Rolle, Switzerland, Europe, email: support@photovoc.online.

2. Subject of the service

PhotoVoc lets the user scan a photo of a page of text, recognize words using AI, and practice them through flashcards, quizzes, writing and tests. The service is available in the “Vocabulary” (languages), “Definitions” and “Conjugation” modes, including conjugation practice for the user’s native language (foreign-language conjugation is being prepared).

The provider may, at its discretion, limit access to the service to approved users during testing or limited-availability phases. Such limitation does not affect the applicability of these Terms once access is granted.

3. Free and paid access

  • Free plan: a limited number of scans / quizzes / tests / writing sessions per period.
  • Paid subscription: monthly or yearly, with payment processed via Stripe.
  • Bonus credits earned through invitations/sharing apply within the current period and are not exchangeable for money.
  • Shared sets: sets shared with you remain accessible for 14 days from accepting the invitation; continued access beyond this period requires a paid subscription.

4. Registration and account

Creating sets and using features requires registration. The user must not misuse the account, grant access to third parties, or upload content they do not have rights to or that violates the law.

5. User obligations

  • Do not upload content that harms the rights of third parties (copyright, personal rights).
  • Do not abuse the app for automated downloading, scraping or bypassing limits.
  • Keep login credentials secure; the user is responsible for activity from their account.

6. Sharing sets

The user may share their sets with other users via an invitation. Sharing is at the user’s own responsibility; the user is responsible for ensuring the shared content does not infringe third-party rights.

Sets shared with a user on the free plan remain accessible for 14 days from acceptance of the invitation. Continued access beyond this period requires a paid subscription.

7. Payments, legal capacity and cancellation

  • The subscription renews automatically until the user cancels it in the app or via Stripe.
  • By paying you accept the Stripe terms (relevant EN/FR/SK).
  • The right of withdrawal and full refund of the amount paid are set out on the “Right of withdrawal” page; within 14 days of purchase we refund the full amount paid, regardless of whether you used the app.

Legal capacity and subscriptions. Free use of the service is available to persons aged 16 and over; for persons under 16 the consent of the holder of parental responsibility is required (see Privacy Policy, section on children). A paid subscription (monthly or yearly) is a binding contract for consideration. A person under 18 years of age is not legally capable of entering into such a contract on their own. If the user is older than 16 but younger than 18, the subscription must be purchased by a parent or other legal guardian (authorized person) on behalf of and in the name of the minor. The purchase is then deemed to be made by the legal representative, who by purchasing confirms that they act on behalf of and in the interest of the minor and assume responsibility for the payment. The right of withdrawal and refund of the amount paid is in such case exercised by the parent or legal guardian as the contracting party (see the “Right of withdrawal” page).

8. Account deletion

The user may delete their account at any time in the app. Upon deletion we retain only a pseudonymized hash of the email and, where applicable, the reason for deletion (see Privacy Policy).

9. Intellectual property

Content the user creates (sets, flashcards, notes) belongs to the user. Uploaded study materials remain the property of their authors; the user uploads them only for personal study. The app, its design, the name “PhotoVoc” and the code belong to the provider.

10. Disclaimer of warranty and liability

The service is provided “as is”. AI word recognition may contain errors; the user should review results before use. The provider is not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from the use of the app, except where exclusion is not permitted under Swiss law and the GDPR.

We recommend photographing in good lighting, with sharp focus and legible text — the quality of the photo directly affects the accuracy of AI recognition. The provider is not liable for incorrectly recognized text caused by insufficient quality of the uploaded photo (e.g. blurred image, poor lighting, illegible handwriting).

Notwithstanding the above, this disclaimer does not affect the mandatory conformity guarantee available to EU consumers under Directive (EU) 2019/770 for paid digital services, including the right to have the service brought into conformity, a price reduction, or termination of the contract in case of lack of conformity.

11. Changes to the terms

We may change these terms; significant changes will be announced in the app. By continuing to use the app after a change, the user agrees to the modifications.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by Swiss law, with regard to mandatory provisions of EU consumer law. Disputes are first resolved amicably; otherwise the courts at the provider’s registered seat have jurisdiction, subject to the obligation of effective remedies for consumers in their place of residence.
